Optimus Prime is one of the greatest leaders of all time. Optimus Prime is the leader of the Autobots.
Optimus Prime is the leader of the Autobots because he is quite powerful. He is a very experienced warrior, being that he was a commander in the war for Cybertron. He is able to hold his own, and even beat the powerful leader of the Decepticons, Megatron. His iconic truck alternate mode is a perfect fit for Optimus Prime, being that it has a bold yet honest presence. His abilities and weapons include turning into a truck, his energon axe, energon swords, arm cannons, ion blaster, as well as the occasional ability to fly. He also possesses the matrix of leadership being that he is a prime, which allows him to light the darkest hour when the time comes. He is quite well versed in combat, so it wouldn't be easy for a Decepticon to take him down.

Abilities and power isn't the only thing that makes Optimus Prime a great leader. His noble character is the main thing that makes him so great. Despite being in such a high position of leadership over the Autobot faction, Optimus Prime would never hesitate to put himself in front of harm's way for any of his allies. Though he is such a fierce and skilled fighter, Optimus Prime ultimately fights for peace and protection. He fought in Cybertron against the Decepticons because they threatened to take over his home. He also chose to protect humans against the invasion of the Decepticons, even though they showed animosity towards him and the Autobots on multiple occasions. Speaking of humans, Optimus Prime always has a compassionate and kind heart. He believes that all life deserves to live peacefully and happily. This is where one of his greatest quotes come from:
